The Red Bench: Interfaith Conversations that Matter
This month's topic is: "the sacred"
The Red Bench - March 27 -

Join us on March the 27th to explore "the sacred" together!

And while I stood there I saw more than I can tell and I understood more than I saw; for I was seeing in a sacred manner the shapes of all things in the spirit, and the shape of all shapes as they must live together like one being.
- Black Elk

Have you ever had an experience of the sacred? What do you hold as sacred in your personal belief system or in your faith tradition?

Humans have long pondered the sacred and have sought to experience it through our rituals and words - our music, art and scriptures. Some of us "see" it as being immediately present and sense it in the complex web of creation or in our personal relationships, while others view it a distant and perhaps unknowable ideal or guiding presence. We seem to long for union with the sacred even if it is beyond our words and knowing.

At iACT, we believe that the shared exploration of "the" sacred can indeed "be" sacred. Please join us on Tuesday March the 27th, for our next Red Bench conversation where we will explore the sacred in intimate small group discussions. We look forward to the sharing and the radical act of bearing "compassionate witness" to one another. See you then!

O Thou, Far off and here, whole and broken,

Who in necessity and in bounty wait,

Whose truth is light and dark, mute though spoken,

By Thy wide grace show me Thy narrow gate.

- To The Holy Spirit, Wendell Berry
