The CAMPO Transportation Policy Board (TPB) is considering a request to add $130 million to the MoPAC Improvement Project and $6.583 million to develop transportation projects in the fi ve-county CAMPO region.
In February, the Texas Department of Transportation notifi ed CAMPO that $136.583 million was being made available to the region for roadway projects. The projects are to be large in scale, of statewide or regional signifi cance and ready to have funds committed by September of this year. CAMPO and its regional partners met several times and determined that the MoPAC project was the only project that met the criteria outlined by TxDOT for use of these funds. Additonally, in an effort to prepare the region for future funding opportunities, approximately 5% ($6.583 million) of the available funds are proposed to be dedicated for project development activities.
Although the majority of the money is proposed to go to the MoPAC Improvement Project now, these monies will come back to the region
at a later date for other regionally significant projects that either are being or will be developed. The terms for these monies coming back to the region are continuing to be considered by the CAMPO Transportation Policy Board.
For further details of the proposed use of these funds, or to comment on the proposal, please visit www.CAMPOTexas.org, drop by the CAMPO office at 505 Barton Springs Road, Suite 700, Austin or attend a community meeting or the public hearing (dates and locations are shown on the opposite side of this postcard); the public comment period ends on Thursday, May 31st. The TPB is expected to make a decision at its June 11th meeting.
