Mental Health Report: “Everybody Has a Role” – 2023

The CAN Community Council published a report with recommendations for improving data systems and supporting/ funding the expansion of peer support programs and training of peer support specialists as a way to address community mental health and wellness. This focus was a continuation of last year’s work on mental health exploring further on how to execute the recommendations about data and peer support from the 2022 Community Mental Health and Wellness Report. This report also includes an addendum detailing the current status of the rest of the recommendations from the 2022 report with a focus on areas that need continued attention. This report was developed based on dialogues that occurred during monthly Community Council meetings, Data and Systems Workgroup meetings, and Peer Support Workgroup meetings during 2022.

Community Mental Health and Wellness Report: Recommendations for Addressing Mental Health – 2022

The CAN Community Council published a report with recommendations for addressing mental health and wellness which existed before the pandemic but was exacerbated by the pandemic through loneliness, isolation, and loss. These recommendations emerged from the dialogues that occurred during monthly Community Council meetings and food insecurity workgroup meetings from September 2021 – December 2021. Action from the recommendations from this report will continue through 2022.

Food Insecurity Report: Recommendations for Addressing Food Insecurity – 2021

The CAN Community Council published a report with recommendations for addressing food insecurity which existed before the pandemic but was exacerbated by the pandemic and 2021 winter storm. These recommendations emerged from the dialogues that occurred during monthly Community Council meetings and food insecurity workgroup meetings from May – August 2021.

The CAN Community Council published a report with recommendations for addressing evictions that will rise as the COVID-19 pandemic response eviction moratorias end. These recommendations emerged from the dialogues that occurred during monthly Community Council meetings and housing workgroup meetings from January – April 2021.

A Closer Look at Child Poverty in Travis  County – 2017

The CAN Community Council spent the better part of 2017 hearing from individuals and organizations who provide support to low income families and/or children. In its report to the CAN Board of Directors, the Community Council documents the activities that were pursued by the CAN Community Council to gain a better understanding of the issues faced by families living in poverty, to summarize the information that was shared in his year-long exploration and to outline the observations/recommendations that were generated by Community Council members for each discussion topic.

Building a Person-Centered Community – 2016

The CAN Community Council published a report outlining the person-centered framework that emerged from the dialogues that occurred during monthly Community Council meetings and at the “Building a Person-Centered Community Summit” in 2016.
