The Community Advancement Network invited our partners to participate in a series of interactive, skill-building workshops designed to improve ability to create more diverse and inclusive organizations throughout our community. The four-day workshop series is designed for organizational leaders.
This initial, full-day session focused on individual leaders and how they can help shape a more diverse and inclusive Greater Austin community and organizations through their own personal actions.
Dr. Kazique Prince is founder and chief executive officer at Jelani Consulting, LLC based in Austin, Texas. Jelani Consulting, LLC, provides executive and leadership consultation and coaching services focused on cultural competency for individuals, teams, and organizations in business, education, government, healthcare, and for non-profit groups. Throughout his career, Dr. Prince carved out a reputation as a dynamic and comprehensive communicator and trusted adviser. Governed by a focused vision for the future and fueled by a passion to make a difference in the new global economy, he has considerable experience in the areas of Project & Program Management, Diversity & Inclusion Management, and Cross-functional Leadership Development. He also owns a powerful understanding of people and what motivates them, drawing upon unique skill sets to sell, counsel and encourage others towards meaningful, lasting change.
Jeremy Solomons is the UK-born and USA-naturalized founder and president of Austin-based Jeremy Solomons & Associates, which helps current and future leaders to connect and communicate effectively across all cultures – geographical, organizational, professional and individual. In Austin, he has designed and led training workshops for a variety of clients, ranging from ACC, Austin High School and UT in the education sector; to Big Brothers Big Sisters, Caritas and Seton in the non-profit sector; to City of Austin, General Land Office and Health and Human Services in the government sector; and to 3M, Freescale and Whole Foods in the corporate sector. He is an advisory board member of the Multicultural Refugee Coalition, where he served as the elected executive board president for the year of 2011.
These two half-day sessions will focus on a process for a systems change approach to cultural competency. Applying this process will ensure sustainable actions regarding issues of culture, diversity and parity within organizations and in how clients access and receive services.
Hector J. Campos is a Project Director with Cardea Services. Cardea provides training, organizational development, program evaluation and capacity building services to health and human service organizations. Mr. Campos has twenty five years of experience in project management, training, consulting and leadership development throughout the US. For ten years he was the CEO of Campos Training and Consulting Group. He designs and facilitates trainings on Cultural Diversity, Managing Organizational Change, Creating Cross-Functional Teams and Organizational and Leadership Development. He has extensive experience with curriculum and instructional design. He written training manuals and educational materials for non-profit organizations.
The fourth and final half-day session in the CAN Cultural Competence leader training series focused on resource sharing and next steps, including creating action plans for participants to implement within their organizations.
